Dress form tag

I found this stamp in the stash.  It had never been used.  Whoops.  It's not the only one like that, but I decided to break it in.  

The background is a combination of Broken China, Victorian Velvet, and Pumice Stone Distress inks.  I smushed them on the craft sheet and misted the sheet with water.  I ran the tag around a couple times, drying it between layers.  

The background stencil is a large Martha Stewart stencil. I used the Broken China Ink on the stencil.  The dress form is stamped in Black Archival ink.

The resin frame is the right shade, but it wasn't grungy enough.  Slate alcohol ink toned it down a bit.  The flower is from Prima.  The words are Tiny Type from Cosmo Cricket.

Silk sari ribbon completes the tag.

I'm a blogworthy link!

After a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day at work I came home to look at my Instagram and saw that Tim Holtz had a new blog up.  It's one of my favorite blog posts he does, the blogworthy links I commented on the Instagram picture saying I hoped to see my name on there one day.  Tim wrote back saying I was... holy guacamole!!! I hadn't even read the blog post yet!  

I am so excited. To be noticed by Tim is huge!  I hope you all enjoy my blog.

Create Memories with your Smile

What a pretty lady.  These Found Relatives make me wonder who these people are.  What is their story?  This girl has such a lovely smile.  She just looks like she is enjoying life.  

For this project I used an 8x10 wooden box.  It had a saying on it that really wasn't my style, so it got a remake.   The background is various bits of paper glued down with matte medium.  This was my first time using matte medium.  I have always used Mod Podge.  I love, love, love how the mate medium is truly matte.  I can layer on color and it stays.  Awesome stuff.  

Once I had my paper down I used Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to dirty up the ripped edges.  Some areas also got a touch of Vintage Photo Distress Marker.  

There are rub ons, industrious stickers, some stenciling and gesso on the background.  The vintage lace is colored with Ripe Persimmon and Gathered Twigs.  The 

vintage measuring tape was colored with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  

I love the orange juice 

cap.  She looks like she could be named Winona.  

These flowers were made using the Tattered Florals die.  The yellow flower was colored with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo Distress Stains.  The brown flower was colored with Gathered Twigs, and Vintage Photo.  Both of them were also stamped with a large script stamp.  For the top flower l put washi tape on the paper before I cut it out.  The leaves are a really old Sizzix die and colored with Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive, and Vintage Photo distress ink.  I really love how these flowers turn out and I have made a ton for my stash.  

The metal banner on the bottom was aged using Alcohol Inks in various brown tones.  A strip of washi tape adds a nice layer under the words.  

There she is smiling that gorgeous smile that makes me smile too.

Canvas panel with a twist part two!

I hope you liked my canvas panel with a twist.   I have another one for you today.

I used the same techniques I used on the last panel.  These ladies got fancier hats trimmed with pompoms and rick rac.  

I really love these girls.

Vintage canvas panel with a twist

I can't seem to get enough of Tim Holtz's Found Relatives.  They have made it onto several of my projects.  I posted my favorite little lady here.  I have done some sweet and some a little bit sassy.

The first project I made is a 5x7 canvas panel.

 I used several colors of Distress Paint( Rusty Hinge, Mowed Lawn, and Spiced Marmalade) to create the background.  I just smeared it on with the daubber and my fingers.  While the paint was still wet I layered on some 7 Gypsies Architectural Tissue Paper.  I used the Bubble Stencil with Weathered Wood Distress Paint here and there.

Then I took the Faded Dots Stencil and a bit of embossing paste.  I used smooshed a bit on to add dimension.  The leftover paste was just wiped on randomly with my fingers(then popped on some Broken China Distress Paint).  I had to play with my new marker spritzer.  I randomly spritzed Black Distress all over the canvas.  I used a 7 Gypsies number stamp set and Black Archival ink to finish the wet part of the process.  

The Trellis Die is so much fun to use.  I love mixing and matching the centers.  The edges of all the centers were darkened using whatever ink was on leftover on my brown ink sponge( most likely a mixture of Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, and Pumice Stone).

The found relative image was fussy cut and raised up using foam tape.  At this point it was looking a bit serious.  I threw on some party hats and was much happier.

A saying that the lovely Anne Taintor likes to use made the perfect sentiment.

Another month, another tag.  This month's tag is gorgeous.  Tim always out does himself.  Without further ado here is my tag....

I stuck pretty closely to what Tim did, but I don't have the pinecone die.  I used my Tattered Florals die for the flowers and a really old Sizzix die for the leaves.  I have never used my Tattered Floral die to make roses like these, but I had so much fun snipping and gluing them.
