You can't cage your heart

Hi Everyone,
Two posts from me today! I have created this necklace for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.
I love to create for Valentine's day.  I have a fun necklace for you today and it was really easy to make.

Start with your birdcage chipboard.  I used the 3 inch version for this project, but it is available in two additional sizes.
I embossed both sides of the top piece using Charred Gold .

The heart is a die cut piece of paper that I wet and crumpled into a ball.  I flattened it, dried it with my heat tool, and then sanded it to highlight the wrinkles.

The wings are painted with a couple light coats of acrylic paint and then grunged up with a brown ink and some bronze paint.

The back of the birdcage that the heart will be on is embossed in a slightly different color than the front(this is Hammered Metal) and it doesn't have full coverage. I wanted some of the chipboard to peep through. The back of the piece is embossed in the same color as the top piece of the cage.

The wings are attached to the heart using foam tape.  I used foam tape and a strong adhesive to attach the heart to the back of the cage.

A large jump ring holds the two pieces of the cage together.  The cage pieces are not attached in any other way.  I want the cage to swing open when I wear this piece.

I hope you like it and maybe make one for yourself!

Mermaid Dreams at CHA

You guys, I am going to Creativation! This year CHA, is being called Creativation and I get to go.  This has been a huge goal of mine since I started crafting a bit more seriously.  I am so thrilled to be going with Emerald Creek Craft Supplies. I want to show you some of the items I have made that will be on display there.

I made a trio of adventurous mermaids.  All of their tails are made using Distress Inks for the color.  The stamps are all Emerald Creek and the Embossing Powders too.  Here are some closer looks.

All of the verbiage you see on these girls is from Wild Whisper Designs
The stones are a new product and they are fabulous.  These are real deal gemstones-perfectly sized for crafting. The new stones shown here are: moissanite, aventurine, pyrite, citrine, amethyst, and carnelian.  There are a few more coming too.

I wish you could see these in person.  The stones are stunning.

I cannot wait to take a billion photos and show you everything I see at CHA.

Snarky Clipboards

Hi Everyone,
I have joined a new design team.  This is my first project for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.  You must check out the blog for some crazy good inspiration.

I created some mini clipboards and they are super easy to make.

I started with my blank clipboard.  They come four to a package and you get the bases, the clips, and the clip cover.

I did a light messy layer of gesso on the base and clip cover.

Once my gesso was dry I started to layer on vintage papers.  I used a whole bunch of random bits.  I can't read dictation, but how perfect is this little bit for this project? I just ripped and layered until I covered the whole board.

I added some scraps of patterned paper, smudged on a bit of acrylic paint, and topped the whole thing off with a layer of collage medium.

Once the collage medium was dried I used Distress Crayons to grunge up the paper.

The lovely lady was added and her quote.  I stuck these on with collage medium too.

While the collage medium dried I glued my clip to the clip cover.  I painted the clip cover, but decided that wasn't quite working.  Embossing powder was the answer to my problem.
A few scribbles were added around the lady and the quote.  Clipboard complete!

I made a second board using the same technique, but I added some stamps and washi tape to this one.

I hope you enjoyed my first project.  I can't wait to show you what I have up my sleeve for my next post.
