Whimsical Keychains

I was at Michael's the other day just poking around and came across some plastic keychains in the kids section.  They were on sale and I knew I could make something out of them.

I made a bunch with scraps of paper, bits of ribbon, and Lisa's Altered Art images.

Some girls got glittery wings

Some got tiny bling on their crowns.

This girl got a blingy button.

She has glittery wings and a jeweled crown.

I made even more(there were 16 in the package), but you must be sick of looking at photos.  Run over to Michael's and grab a box to make your own.  How cute would these be for stocking stuffers, bachelorette parties, or a birthday bash? I'd love to see them if you make some.

Tim tag for July

Dang! This is the closest I've ever cut it to the wire! Truth be told I have had a hard time finding my craft mojo this month.  I have been reading like crazy instead.  I read 12 books this month.  12! Sheesh.
But you're not here to hear about what I read, you're here to see my tag.
My tag is a bit different than Tim's.  I really wanted to use these images from Dina Wakley.  I'm taking a class with her tonight and thought it would inspire me a bit.

They are watercolored using watercolors and a few distress markers.  The backgrounds are colored with distress inks using my water brush.  I like the resin flowers they have too.  It's a pretty girly tag.
There ya go! My tag for July.

Wedding Bells

One of my managers is getting married.  He asked me not to buy them a gift, so I asked if I could make him something instead.  He had already asked me to make his sister a gift for the wedding(she is the best woman) and said he would love it if I created something for him.
I was a bad crafter and didn't take pictures during the creating process.  So here is the final result.

Congratulations to Anthony and Amy.  I hope you enjoy your gift.

Never Lose Your Little Girl Heart

I recently sent this project out to an Instagram buddy to thank her for some paper roses she made for me.  I have met some many wonderful crafty people on Instagram!
I made this little girl quite quickly. It only took about an hour from start to finish.

Take a canvas panel and paint it all one color(I used Mowed Lawn Distress paint).  Once it is dry add accent colors by smudging, flicking, and pressing the cap all over the canvas.
I used some vintage sheet music on the corners and adhered it with matte gel.

The page behind her is a book page that I aged with distress inks and sprays in Antique Linen, Walnut Ink, and Vintage Photo.  There is a piece of scrapbook paper directly behind the photo.

Her bow and parts of her dress and colored with distress markers.  I also tinted her flower with the marker too.  Once I wet the flower the distress ink ran into the flower to color it.  The dress color is mimicked by the color of the scrapbook paper.
I printed the words on the computer and colored them to match the book paper.

The crinkle ribbon is colored with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick Distress stains.
I mounted everything using foam tape to add dimension.  A big flower added to the bow and it's complete!

Tim tag for May

Yay! I loved this tag and followed what Tim did almost exactly. I didn't have the burlap paper so I used some burlap ribbon and glued it to my tag.

The ribbon is colored with Evergreen Bough, Weathered Wood, and Gathered Twigs.

The tiny tattered floral die is so worth getting. It makes the cutest teeny flowers.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this months tag.

And the Award goes to...

Hi, My name is Jess and I am addicted to making tiny trophies.  I went to the store to buy a single package of these babies and went back to buy the rest the next day.  They are so fun to alter.  Since they are tiny(just two inches high) they work up quickly too.

I made this one for me.  I will be 37 this year.  I am determined to make it my best year yet.

After I posted a picture  of my first trophy a friend said it should have been a 57 since that's how old she would be this year.  This will be mailed out to her.

I am not a big gold crafter.  I tend to stay in the silver family.  I figured I should challenge myself and this was the result.  It is one of my favorites.

It's time for Easter Bunnies!  He has a tiny pom pom tail.  He's adorable.

So many of my crafts have birds on them.  This tiny guy is just right on here.

Ah, everyone has a know it all in their life.  Give them a trophy.

This gypsy is adorned with a piece of a vintage earring.

This guy has already been sent off to its forever home.  I can see tons of creepy possibilities for Halloween with these trophies.

Each trophy is a little different.  I was experimenting with different mixtures of alcohols inks, different levels of roughing up the surface(steel wool worked best), and different ways to fill them up.

Be mine- A Valentine tag

It's time for the 21st CC3 Challenge! The lovely Linda Ledbetter hosts this challenge and it is amazing.  We have been making our way through Tim Holtz's third volume of the Compendium of Curiosities.   There's a fantastic prize from The Inspiration Emporium this go around too.

I can't tell you how I made the tag(that's part of the challenge), but I can show you my interpretation .

The stamped image was fussy cut and colored using distress markers and a water brush.

The flash card is a vintage German card.

The forget me nots were a nice little romantic touch at the top.

I am also entering this into MMMC Think Pink Challenge
Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge -ink, seam binding, stamping, emboss, flowers
Our Creative Corner Tic Tac Toe(stamp, emboss, ribbon)

Tim tag for January

Another year means another batch of Tim tags! I tried so hard to do all 12 last year, but missed a couple.  This year I got this.  I think I'm off to a good start.
I followed the details Tim used pretty closely on this one.  I love the wrinkled tissue.

I used some chit chat words that I want to be or do more of this year.

Christmas Cabinet Card

I have missed out on the last two Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenges. I am squeezing this one in under the wire!  You must check out this challenge.  It is so fun if you are a Tim Holtz addict.  Tim and Mario have donated prizes for each of the challenges.  This particular challenge is also sponsored by The Inspiration Emporium.  The crew over there rocks.  Amazing customer service!
Without further ado here is my take on the Cabinet Card Pocket.
I have been in a Christmas mood and decided to use this worn cover as my base.  An adorable found relative is the base photo.  I tinted Santa's outfit and her coat, but you cant really tell since I piled on the ephemera.  I essentially tossed the Tim Holtz kitchen sink on here- remnant rubs, a mirrored star, pen nib, crinkle ribbon, industrious stickers, some paper ephemera, naturals ribbon in the red and cream, and the cabinet card itself.

Do you see a little surprise on the top?
It's a secret Santa tag! Love these new holiday flashcards.  I have been dying to use one.
Another Paula bow on the side and a token to add some fun.  I bound my inside pages using bakers twine.
The light doesn't really do the color of the cover justice.  I used Barn Door, Tea Dye, and Walnut Stain Sprays.  I also added some Perfect Pearls mist to give it a gold shimmer.

A few more closeups for you.

I hope you like it as much as I do!
